Due to the recent rainy weather causing
dangerous conditions, the Canal Opening set
for May 16 has been postponed.
The on-land portion of the Waterford Canalfest
will go forward May 16-18, but the free boat rides will be rescheduled for another date once the Canals open.

Open Pontoon Tour
Join us for a scheduled tour aboard one of our two pontoon vessels. Experience a real Canal Lock-Thru, learn about the rich history of the Champlain Canal and surrounding areas, watch for eagles, ospreys, blue herons and other wildlife, or just sit back and enjoy the ride. Accommodating a maximum of six passengers, this cruise lasts approximately 90 minutes. Hike & History Cruise with HCP
Get out your walking shoes and enjoy this FREE On the Canals Hike and History Cruise Experience. Thanks to a grant from the New York State Canal System, we are again partnering with Hudson Crossing Park to provide a unique Champlain Canal Experience - half history cruise, half environmental hike. Each event will be limited to 12 participants, so make your reservation early as they will fill up fast. Availabilites are opened monthly and you can sign up to be placed on a waiting list.
Experience an Authentic Canal Lock
In honor of the 200th Anniversary of the Erie Canal System, of which the Champlain Canal is a part, we are offering a special water tour of Lock C5. You will enter the Lock from the north, be lowered 19 feet, exit and reenter the lock, and then be raised that 19 feet. Your knowledgeable Captain will explain how the Lock works and answer any questions you might have.
